Hawaii Fundraiser for Interstate: A New Musical

$50 - $300

You're invited to a fundraising party to get the new musical, Interstate, to the New York Musical Festival (NYMF) this summer!

Kit Yan (born and raised in Hawaii) is debuting his inspiring tale off-Broadway this summer in New York City. Interstate is an Asian-American pop-rock poetry musical about Dash, a transgender spoken word performer who becomes internet-famous along with his best friend Adrian, a lesbian singer-songwriter. Together, they embark on their first road trip across America. Their political and personal music inspires Henry, a transgender teenage vlogger living in small-town middle America, to set out on a quest to meet his heroes in person, hoping to find answers to his struggles.

Interstate addresses racism, sexism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, toxic masculinity, and xenophobia head-on by telling the story of queer Asians who face oppression at the intersection of their identities.

Come join the Hawaii community to learn more about the show and help them raise critical funds for their production.
